The essential purpose component of ACG’s strategy is based on the knowledge that bonds supported by taxing authority or revenues derived from projects that are essential to a municipality’s fulfillment of its obligations to constituents have a greater chance of being supported during periods of financial stress. Credit risk is further managed by using high quality bonds in the longer segment of the portfolio and, in appropriate environments, ACG focuses any lower-rated credit exposure in the shorter portion of the portfolio.
